- ➤ Nordstrom officials will open a new Nordstrom Rack at Northpointe Plaza in north Spokane after completing renovations on the former Big Lots store at 9612 N. Newport Hwy (costing $4 million). Upgrades include new HVAC systems and a concrete pad to ready the site for customers. The Spokesman-Review

- ➤ Rich Landers, the outdoors reporter who first ran Bloomsday in 1977 — dressed in knee-high tube socks while covering the race — still keeps the tradition alive by walking downtown each May with his wife and dog despite ongoing health challenges. The Spokesman-Review
- ➤ Spokane kids took part in the annual mitten coloring contest judged Tuesday, with six winners excelling in two age groups. Their mittens are on display at the Mobius Discovery Center, 331 N. - ➤ Spokane County Fire District 9 issued a grilling safety alert as cold weather raised risks during weekend barbecuing; firefighters urged residents today to check and maintain their grills (clearing the cooking area and keeping combustibles away) to prevent fires. KHQ
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Providence Medical Group updated its visitor policy in clinics and hospitals across Spokane and Stevens counties; effective today, visitors under 18 cannot visit Providence Sacred Heart Children's Hospital and select units. Patients may have two visitors between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., with a review planned in spring. KHQ
