EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The East Valley School District is asking residents to support a $220M bond measure to replace aging school buildings (constructed in the 1960s) that now suffer from flooding and damage. If voters approve it later this year, the bond will fund fixes and upgrades to the middle and high schools. FOX 28 Spokane
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ WSDOT will host a community workshop at Frances Scott Elementary on Thursday, Jan. 22 to discuss tree replacement, storm water swales and architectural features in the multipurpose room at 3737 East 5th Ave — doors open at 4:30 p.m. KHQ
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ SpokAnimal remains quarantined as a respiratory virus continues to affect dogs, with some puppies still very ill. The shelter is working with Washington State University & using antibiotics while the clinic and pet food bank stay operational. FOX 28 Spokane
- ➤ Providence has restricted underage visitors from its Children’s Hospital and NICU in Spokane and Stevens County starting Monday due to rising flu cases (exceptions apply for end-of-life care and essential language support) and will review the policy in early spring. The Spokesman-Review

- ➤ Lauren Whittaker, a Zags freshman, was named WCC Freshman of the Week — officials said the honor recognizes her strong performance and commitment on the team. KXLY
- ➤ WSU guard Adria Rodriguez, a native of Spain, is adjusting to new dining habits and playing style as he learns English and finds his role on the team. The Cougars will host Gonzaga at home on Thursday. The Spokesman-Review
