- ➤ Hillyard-based manufacturer Jubilant HollisterStier revealed plans to build a new 21,000 sqft building near its Hillyard campus at 3525 N. Regal St. — the facility will house allergen processing and R&D labs as part of a growing strategy, with plans submitted to city officials for feedback. The Spokesman-Review
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Historic records show that in 1976 the groundbreaking of the uniquely designed County Social and Health Services Center featured four bullet-shaped towers (called silos by critics) that spurred design debate, while testimony from 1926 revealed how bootleggers secretly supplied illegal liquor at a Main Avenue bar. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Spokane parks will remove over 200 ponderosa pines killed by bark beetles — including 50 at Manito Park — by March to slow further damage. The removal at Downriver Golf Course and Indian Canyon aims to cut fire risks while setting the stage for native restoration. The Spokesman-Review
