The Spokane Nordic Ski Association hosted its Winterfest at Mount Spokane with 45-minute ski lessons in classic and skate techniques (adaptive skiing demos, layering clinics and snowshoeing education completed the day’s activities).
🎓 Education
Rep. April Connors (R-Kennewick) introduced House Bill 2262 on Jan.
18 to add cursive signature lessons to civics classes in Washington schools, and if passed, the Secretary of State will survey ballot rejections from signature mismatches every odd-numbered year.
🏛️ Government
Washington lawmakers began state budget talks that proposed higher education cuts, which raised concerns from schools (including Eastern Washington University).
Sen. Marcus Riccelli said lawmakers will review spending and revenue options to keep college affordable.
