- ➤ Larry Brown, a well-known restaurateur behind The Onion Restaurant and Franks Diner, passed away at age 80 after serving the community for 50 years. His partners Ken Belisle and Robin Bernhart will continue running both restaurants as a tribute to his legacy. KHQ
- ➤ Local parents are raising concerns about proposed child care service cuts that may reduce funding for affordable programs. Details of the proposal and its impacts remain under review. KXLY

- ➤ Barbershop group Lilac City Voices is kicking off a Valentine’s tradition by surprising loved ones with song and flower visits starting at $69; they perform today and tomorrow and still accept bookings (featuring a new partnership with Peters and Sons Flowers). KXLY
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Feb. 10, the Washington Department of Ecology issued an emergency order for Spokane International Airport, the city, and county to draft a health and safety plan to fix PFAS in drinking water. The draft is due by Feb. 24 to install filters or provide bottled water for West Spokane. KHQ
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Spokane Chiefs erased a three-goal deficit to earn a 5-4 win over Portland Winterhawks at Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Friday. Chase Harrington led with a goal & two assists as the team advanced in the Western Conference playoff race. The Spokesman-Review
- ➤ Sean MacFarlane, a local referee who began skating at Eagles Ice Arena as a toddler, will officiate at the Milano Cortina Olympics in February. He has long dreamed of working with top players and takes inspiration from Spokane’s legendary hockey figures — a milestone for local sports. KHQ
- ➤ Caden Pierce, who visited Gonzaga, Purdue, UConn, Duke and Louisville, committed to Purdue on Friday, rejecting Gonzaga’s roster. Purdue will face Gonzaga in nonconference play at T‑Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Nov. 2 if Pierce returns after sitting out the 2026–27 season (following last season’s injuries). The Spokesman-Review
