- ➤ A WSU professor and Report for America have unveiled plans to hire 39 journalists to cover local civic issues including government, public health, and schools in underserved Washington counties. The initiative will build on the Murrow Fellowship program to support sustainable local news. Spokane Public Radio
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Spokane Public Radio held its 35th record sale this Valentine's weekend at Center Place Regional Event Center, offering music, movies and gear for collectors. Presale tickets cost $40 while entry was free with a suggested $5 donation. FOX 28 Spokane
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Washington State Legislature is considering a bill (SB 5346) to limit student phone use in schools to reduce distractions and improve mental health. A public hearing is scheduled on Feb. 18 in the House Committee of Education and new policies will need to be adopted by 2030. FOX 28 Spokane
