COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Rosauers donated over $45,000 to expand Second Harvest’s Bite 2 Go program so 150 more children can get weekend meals amid growing food insecurity. The donation supports deliveries from 235 schools and keeps money local — a first for the grocery chain.  FOX 28 Spokane

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Brand Boost Prints acquired century-old Lithograph Reproductions Inc on Jan. 1 to modernize direct mail marketing for small businesses+ the operation now runs from 17323 E. Trent in Spokane Valley and has retained five employees.  Spokane Journal of Business
  • Dallas-based Sunflower Bank combined its two Spokane branches into a renovated office (17,000 sqft) at 244 W. Main after renovations finished in February. The bank also opened a new loan production office in Coeur d’Alene at the start of the year to meet growing mortgage and private banking needs.  Spokane Journal of Business
  • Slate Dental, a local dental tech company that grew from a South Hill garage, sold out its mini flosser debut at Northpointe Plaza on Feb. 22 and will launch its battery-powered Origin Flosser on March 20—marking a retail milestone with 844 Target stores nationwide.  Spokane Journal of Business
  • SeaPort Airlines launched a new weekday service connecting Felts Field (Spokane) and Boeing Field (Seattle) on March 9, offering 60- to 70-minute flights with free parking and four round-trip options daily. The service aims to shorten the business commute for local travelers.  Spokane Journal of Business

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Craft3, a nonprofit community lender, will invest between $25 million & $30 million in the Inland Northwest using an $80 million New Markets Tax Credit, and plans to support up to five projects including an education project in Spokane and a rural health care facility.  Spokane Journal of Business

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Ferris High School is hosting its 63rd annual parent-run musical, 'Ham on Regal,' to raise funds for school programs. The show runs March 8 through March 14 in the Ferris auditorium with a family night on March 12.  KHQ

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Spokane-based Inland Northwest Land Conservancy secured a conservation easement that protects 300 acres at Quail Haven on the foothills of Mica Peak in North Idaho. Longtime owner Cindy Mead partnered with private donors to preserve local wildlife + maintain historic forest practices.  Spokane Journal of Business
  • Spokane Riverkeeper launched a ten‐month community study to monitor Spokane River watershed water quality — the volunteer program partners with local universities and tribes, requires training and monthly sample collection, and will host a virtual info session on March 19.  FOX 28 Spokane

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Spokane Valley’s former referee Bob West is backing a new Washington bill that makes threats to school sports officials a gross misdemeanor — the Senate unanimously passed it, and it is now headed to the governor’s desk.  KHQ

HEALTH NEWS

  • According to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America’s Allergy Capitals report released March 11, Spokane ranked ninth for allergy challenges due to higher pollen and longer allergy seasons (linked to climate change). The study included scores for tree, grass, and weed pollen along with medicine use.  FOX 28 Spokane

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • Renovations to the historic Peyton Building will resume this month after an unexpected asbestos removal delay. The developer said downtown street closures will be managed as part of a $32 million project converting the building into 96 apartments & work is set to finish in early 2027.  Spokane Journal of Business
