  • Spokane native Anne McClain, commander of a SpaceX mission, inspired local students after a former teacher at Gonzaga Preparatory School (Gonzaga Prep) praised her passion for math and science; her launch, postponed for Pi Day, is set for tomorrow. CRIME NEWS

  • A Spokane Valley man now faces charges after allegedly stalking, threatening and shooting at a parked truck following a near collision dispute — court records show he demanded $300 from a truck owner he wrongly blamed, causing about $8,000 in damage and leaving the victim’s family fearful.  KHQ
  • Airway Heights Police arrested a father on Tuesday at 5 p.m. after a 5-year-old boy with significant injuries was found in an apartment during a 911 call—he was taken to Sacred Heart for treatment and placed in protective custody while detectives investigate and the father faces Assault of a Child 2nd Degree charges.  FOX 28 Spokane
  • Spokane Valley deputies responded at about 3:15 am on March 13, 2025, to a welfare check near E. 3rd Avenue and S. Bradley Road when 31-year-old Austyn S. Howard opened his door and pointed a gun at them—backup from SWAT and crisis negotiators helped officers safely take him into custody while replica firearms were recovered from the scene.  Spokane County
  • Spokane Valley Police are searching for two missing 11-year-old girls who were last seen on Thursday around 3 p.m. at Centennial Middle School on North Ella Road—one wearing black pants and a black shirt with a white trash bag and the other in a Beetlejuice shirt, black pants, a lime green coat and a gray backpack; anyone with information should call 911.  KXLY

CULTURE NEWS

  • Motorcycle fans can look forward to the 20th Spokane Motorcycle Show this weekend at the Spokane Fair & Expo Center where hundreds of bikes, stunt shows & activities for kids are on display. The event runs from Friday at 3 p.m. through Sunday at 4 p.m. and costs $12 for adult tickets.  KXLY

HEALTH NEWS

  • A Spokane doctor said independent practices are struggling to offer timely care because fixed payments from Medicare and Medicaid are making it hard to keep up costs. He warned that without more support, more practices might close—forcing patients to rely on larger hospital systems.  FOX 28 Spokane

  • A Spokane Valley competitive cheer team will head to Orlando for the national ‘Worlds’ competition from April 25—28 as one of only two Washington teams invited to the event.
