CRIME NEWS

  • A Spokane man woke up to find a stranger in his South Perry District home after the intruder tried entering through the front, jumped a fence to get in at 2–3 a.m.—he said the intruder told him to 'chill out' before slowly leaving and police are investigating after receiving suspect details from a connection.  KHQ
  • A 19-year-old woman was killed in a gang-related drive-by shooting last summer at West View when a car fired at her group, and police arrested a suspect on a murder warrant last week—court documents link the incident to ongoing street gang conflicts.  The Spokesman-Review

CULTURE NEWS

  • Spokane was featured on the Today Show as a top spring travel destination when Travel and Leisure praised its mix of city life and outdoor activities. The report highlighted Riverfront Park + the Davenport Hotel as part of its local charm.  FOX 28 Spokane

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Gonzaga University will host the National Debate Tournament (April 3 to April 7) where top college debate teams will compete.  KHQ
  • Gonzaga University will host the National Debate Tournament from April 3rd to April 7th as 78 teams from 48 colleges compete on energy policy and a national champion will be crowned on April 7th.   • Spokane City Council member Lili Navarrete announced on March 25th that she would not seek reelection in District 2 because of recent health concerns—she said she would support candidates who share her commitment to the community.
