  • Residents of Spokane's North Indian Trail neighborhood saw three moose wander into a yard and watch as one child used a PVC pipe—blowing air through it—to guide the animals away from fruit trees. The family captured the incident on camera as the moose relaxed in the quiet cul-de-sac.  KHQ

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On March 26 at 8:29 a.m., a crash on I-90 eastbound near the Division Street exit blocked the right two lanes and caused long delays according to the Spokane Regional Transportation Department.  KXLY
  • A grass fire burned 80 to 90 acres west of Fairchild Air Force Base on Wednesday after starting just after 3 p.m. near West Thorpe Road and Stroup Road — no structures were threatened — as crews from Spokane County Fire District 3, the Washington Department of Natural Resources, and District 10 worked on soft fields.  The Spokesman-Review
  • On March 26th, firefighters battled an 80—90 acre brush fire near Medical Lake as teams from Spokane County Fire District 3 and the Washington State Department of Natural Resources used handlines despite difficult terrain and reported no structures were threatened.  FOX 28 Spokane

  • Since 1994, the Inland Northwest readers poll has been a local tradition that asks voters to choose their favorite businesses, places and events. The poll now features new questions on mimosas, mocktails and where to play pickleball—showing how tastes have changed over time while keeping a record of community favorites.  The Inlander

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Spokane Public Library Foundation is participating in Library Giving Day—an online campaign on Tuesday, April 1 that will raise $10,000 to fund programs like Summer Reading and 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten along with improvements to digital resources and archival services. Board president Jens Larson said donor support helps the library grow to meet community needs.  KXLY

  • Spokane City Councilwoman Lili Navarrete announced Tuesday that she will not run for re-election this year due to health concerns. Appointed in January to fill a seat vacated by Council President Betsy Wilkerson, she is believed to be the first Hispanic or immigrant council member in decades.  The Spokesman-Review
  • Phones around Spokane received an Amber Alert Tuesday evening about an 8-year-old girl abducted by her father while getting off her school bus in Spokane Valley—she was found safe and her father arrested less than an hour later, with police noting that the alert met four strict criteria to provide clear details and avoid alert fatigue.  KXLY
