  • Local nonprofit Sew She Can partners with Alterations on South Hill to launch Project Prom Closet offering high schoolers free prom attire. Donations of used formal wear are accepted until Tuesday — new items until Friday — and a free shopping event is set Saturday at NorthTown Mall.  KXLY

CULTURE NEWS

  • Global pop star Benson Boone will perform on August 2 at Numerica Veterans Arena as part of his Wanted Man tour, and tickets go on sale Friday, Apr. 3 at 11 a.m.  KXLY
  • Spokane’s Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture hosted a private reception on March 28 for the '14 Million Miles: 50 Years of Bloomsday' exhibit, which shows race memorabilia and lets visitors vote on the 50th finisher shirt color.   • Today, the Spokane Lilac Festival crowned its 2026 queen during a ceremony celebrating local talent and community tradition (festival organizers described the honor as a reflection of the event’s heritage).  KXLY

  • Spokane Valley homeowners can review a step-by-step guide that explains how to apply for home equity loans or HELOCs. The guide details key requirements (credit score, home equity, and documentation) and outlines the approval process from research to underwriting so borrowers know what to expect.  The Spokesman-Review

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Providence is expanding its psychiatry residency program from four to six residents as increasing local demand for mental health care drives growth. MultiCare will open an internal medicine residency clinic on April 6 and plans to recruit six residents next June+ a step to improve local health care access.  Spokane Public Radio

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Spokane NAACP has pushed back on a federal probe into a state program supporting families affected by redlining. The group said the program was among the first to address housing discrimination before the Fair Housing Act — urging a review of its methods that could lead to policy tweaks.  KHQ

SPORTS NEWS

  • Mikki Douglass raced with nine dogs in the Spokane Spring Sprint dryland event at Riverside State Park over the weekend, part of the Inland Empire Sled Dog Association’s Winter in Name Only series. Racers competed in events ranging from 2 to 9 miles to enjoy dogsledding without snow.  The Spokesman-Review
