  • Steven Zacherle, 38, was sentenced to 17 years for second-degree murder and threats in interstate commerce on the Colville Reservation, and a judge ordered five years of supervised release — restitution for funeral expenses will be paid to the Colville Confederated Tribes.  FOX 28 Spokane

  • Tree squirrels are common in Spokane as many residents enjoy watching them even when they cause damage to gardens and chew wires. Wildlife experts note that non-native eastern gray and fox squirrels thrive in urban areas—spreading seeds and using deceptive caching to hide food.  The Spokesman-Review
