In a 14-hour period on Monday and Tuesday, fires in three Spokane homes displaced 17 residents and six animals, with one blaze near Jack & Dan’s Bar triggering student housing support from Gonzaga while fire crews controlled the flames in about 30 minutes as investigators probed the cause.

Spokane Valley is reviewing proposals that could ban cryptocurrency kiosks, a measure aimed at addressing a nationwide crackdown on digital currency terminals, with details expected in the coming weeks.

County commissioners will vote next week on proposed regulations to prohibit Class 2 electric bikes — which can damage park trails and grass — in county parks and trails.
