- ➤ Nearly 1,000 bikes will be available for buy and sell at the 14th annual Bike Swap at the Spokane County Fair and Expo Center tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.—volunteers and local groups have prepped today, and sellers can check in bikes until 7 p.m. tonight. KXLY
- ➤ Spokane Valley firefighter Justin Blatner threw the first pitch at the Spokane Indians game on Friday during First Responders Appreciation Night & helped honor local emergency services. KHQ
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Plans to build a 59,000 sqft performing arts center in Spokane Valley ended after the city council rejected a $28 million bond request and financing fell short, halting construction on East Mansfield in 2022. Yvonne A.K. Johnson said the project cannot continue. KXLY
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The state awarded $5.4 million in grants to seven Spokane County groups to add 2,000 child care slots statewide; Guardian Angels Childcare Center — the largest recipient — got $1.69 million while Salish School’s project will break ground in June and finish in 2028. The Spokesman-Review
