- ➤ A Spokane firefighter on vacation in Mexico saved a child's life after noticing the child struggling in rough waves at a beach during breakfast at his hotel—after a mother and her two children were swept away, nearby rescuers helped save another child. KHQ
- ➤ The Salish School of Spokane and Catholic Charities are partnering on a $33M project at 2720 W. Elliott Court—designed to build a Salish language school, a cultural community center, and 72 affordable housing units along the Spokane River. - ➤ Spokane’s Spokesman-Review will go nonprofit as the Cowles family donates $2 million to a group that needs matching funds from the community (the paper will keep printing six days a week and maintain subscriptions and ads), marking its first big change in over 130 years of family ownership. - ➤ Spokane Valley-based EasyStreet Systems Inc. was acquired by Digicomm International, a Colorado telecom firm that will combine its smart pole products with EasyStreet’s solutions. The deal lets EasyStreet keep its name and facility at 6021 E. Mansfield while fueling growth in broadband and smart city markets—its CEO said the acquisition supports future expansion. - ➤ Gov. Ferguson signed a law that stops credit agencies from using medical debt in setting credit scores—protecting Washington residents from the financial burden of unexpected costs.
