COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Central Library will host a resource fair and free Washington State ID event from 10:00 a.m. to noon on Tuesday, May 12 to support those experiencing homelessness & income-limited individuals in getting or renewing their state ID. Local partners will provide housing, employment, and food assistance.  FOX 28 Spokane
  • Approximately 15 volunteers began Spring Clean Week on Monday by planting tulips and cleaning downtown ahead of Bloomsday, which will see 40,000 runners on race day; cleanup and flower planting on Main Avenue will continue through Thursday.  FOX 28 Spokane
  • KXLY previewed Camp Dart-Lo Extreme Team project, outlining plans for an outdoor team challenge to boost local recreation. More details on timing and location will be shared soon.  KXLY

  • Mayor Lisa Brown announced Monday that the City reestablished its arts office to support local artists & cultural organizations; Megan Duvall will direct the office as Elisabet Edwards, with 17 years of arts experience, coordinates public art projects under the Community and Economic Development Division.  FOX 28 Spokane

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in Spokane are nearing record highs nearly two months after the Iran conflict began, with some stations charging $5.29 per gallon and drivers paying almost $100 to fill up their tanks. Town’s Conoco — hoping to help customers— is offering a 5-cent discount per gallon through summer.  FOX 28 Spokane

  • Financial experts advise Spokane Valley residents to boost their emergency funds by tracking one day's spending and gradually building up to a three-day goal.
