ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • An early morning house fire at the 3900 block of South Havana Street on South Hill severely damaged a home and garage and injured one person when a second was rescued and taken to hospital—firefighters said a dog died and the cause is under investigation.  KXLY
  • Early this morning, the Spokane Fire Department responded at 2:45 a.m. to a house fire on South Hill at the 3900 block of South Havana Street—where a neighbor heard barking dogs and popping sounds—sending one man to hospital for smoke inhalation as crews continued to control hot spots and investigate the cause.  KHQ

CRIME NEWS

  • Spokane County detectives believe the man found dead in a parked RV on East Broadway Avenue on May 4 was a homicide victim—authorities are seeking information on the vehicle's previous location.  KXLY
  • Authorities in Spokane seized fentanyl powder capable of killing 25,000 people and over 16,000 fentanyl pills—along with 36 guns, 14 pounds of meth, a kilo of heroin, $31,000 and four vehicles—from an apartment that received more than 50 calls over two years as part of a seven-month drug trafficking investigation.  KHQ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell announced that federal grants totaling $66,758,406 supported terminal upgrades at 12 airports statewide, including $6.5 million for Spokane International Airport and $7.3 million for Tri-Cities Airport—funding aimed at expanding passenger areas and safety measures. The announcement also noted allocations for Deer Park and Richland airports, with funds provided under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.  FOX 28 Spokane
