BUSINESS NEWS

  • Spokane International Airport expects its busiest summer yet with over 8,500 daily airline seats in June and July—a 13% increase over last season, with Memorial Day weekend departures up nearly 18%. Interim CEO Frank Miller said expanded routes to major cities like Chicago, Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles, and San Francisco are driving the surge.  FOX 28 Spokane

CRIME NEWS

  • Spokane police expanded park patrols this summer to address illegal camping, drug use, and violent crime, and officers will now patrol parks around the clock to enforce newly revised park rules—this move follows last summer's spike in offenses that prompted stricter after-hour bans.  KXLY

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Governor Bob Ferguson signed House Bill 1934 into law to strengthen workplace harassment privacy in Spokane Valley after complaints arose over City Council member Al Merkel's handling of complaint details— the law requires removal of names, contact details and job titles from records and mandates audio changes to protect identities, with House Representative Rob Chase introducing the bill.  KHQ
