- ➤ A new market on East 8th Avenue will soon serve as a year-round hub for local bakers, growers, and coffee roasters after Tiffany Cable closed The Blissful Whisk in March to cut costs. - ➤ A 24-year-old man was sentenced to 264 days in prison after pleading guilty to a scheme in which he swapped genuine iPads with counterfeits and returned them to Target stores in Eastern Washington, costing $326,000 & resulting in a three-year supervised release and restitution order. - ➤ Gov. Bob Furguson signed the state budget Tuesday that did not include the $37 million for the WSU Team Health building — leaving plans for the new integrated health care training facility uncertain. WSU Spokane Chancellor Daryll DeWald said he must now figure out how to move the project forward amid a $16 billion state debt — and lawmakers may provide a supplemental appropriation next session. - ➤ Spokane, Spokane Valley and Spokane County have reached an interlocal agreement to coordinate planning and funding strategies for addressing homelessness. The agreement outlines a framework for shared data collection, coordinated planning, community outreach and inclement weather response—along with joint execution of the annual Point-In-Time Count and distribution of homelessness grant funds. - ➤ Documents from the Department of Health show that Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center did not have proper safety policies for patients with suicidal thoughts, a gap that affected 12-year-old Sarah before she jumped from the parking garage.
