COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Yesterday, the annual Race to Remember 5K was held at Fairmount Memorial Park Cemetery where participants ran alongside over 1,500 full-size American flags to honor fallen military members. The event raised funds for the Beyond the Call program—supporting military families.  FOX 28 Spokane
  • An elderly couple celebrated their symbolic wedding at Aspen Quality Care this Memorial Day weekend. Robert Hagen (81) and Joyce Mason (90) had the first wedding held at the facility.  KHQ

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A crash on I-90 eastbound near the Latah Creek Bridge occurred at 1:53 p.m. Saturday and blocked the center and right lanes, causing heavy traffic delays as authorities work to clear the scene.  KHQ

CULTURE NEWS

  • Hundreds of Native American tribes gathered at the Second Annual Northwest Powwow with music and dance at the Spokane Convention Center. Today, the event continues from noon to 5 p.m. —a time to honor traditions— at the Spokane Conservation Center.  KXLY

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Spokane County, Spokane and Spokane Valley signed an agreement to share data and coordinate steps for homelessness response so they can work together better. City leaders said the plan will help them use public money wisely and manage services during tough weather—officials stressed—while offering more support to those in need.  The Spokesman-Review

LIFESTYLE NEWS

  • Robert Hagen, 81, and Joyce Mason, 90 celebrated a symbolic wedding yesterday at Aspen Quality Care—marking the first wedding held at the facility where the couple met in March and shared the special event with family, staff, and fellow residents.  FOX 28 Spokane

  • Spokane Indians rallied in the ninth inning at Avista Stadium on Friday but lost 10—7 to the Tri-City Dust Devils in the fourth game of a six-game series. The team’s comeback fell short when a groundout ended the rally in a game that kept fans on edge.  The Spokesman-Review
  • Spokane Indians starting pitcher McCade Brown threw five shutout innings with 11 strikeouts—his strong return from elbow ligament replacement surgery came as Tri-City’s late solo home runs led to a 3-2 loss at Avista Stadium.
