Navy Veteran Jeffrey West visited his friend FM Collier's grave at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery on Memorial Day.

West — proud of the peaceful, well-kept site — said the service honored veterans without families.

Spokane County commissioners are considering a 21-year lease with Longball Inc. for Avista Stadium that could keep the Spokane Indians in the region through 2046.

The proposal, discussed today, calls for a $100,000 annual base lease that increases by $2,000 each year and offers optional five-year extensions.
