- ➤ A memorial display called Boots on the Ground honored Washington's fallen post-9/11 service members outside Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena on Memorial Day, and the third annual event featured the Illuminating Courage memorial (with 627 pairs of boots representing each fallen hero designed by Kathy Swehla) that brought many visitors to reflect on the loss. - ➤ On May 26th, 2025 at 11:13 a.m., a car veered off the road and hit a light pole and a house on North Perry Street, causing damage but no injuries & police and Avista crews responded quickly as the investigation continues. FOX 28 Spokane

- ➤ Firefighters battled late into Sunday near High Drive and South Bernard Street, mopping up until 5:30 a.m. before a new crew returned Monday to take heat readings and apply fresh dirt—residents said they were worried by reports of suspicious origins. KHQ
