- ➤ Fairchild Air Force Base will host SkyFest 2026 on June 6 to 7 with gates opening at 9 a.m. (free parking and air shows are scheduled) at the base. A severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until midnight PDT and may impact travel. KHQ

- ➤ Flight 509, a popular family entertainment center (known for laser tag and bumper cars), will close permanently on June 13. The facility will honor all scheduled private events through July 2. FOX 28 Spokane

- ➤ Lilac City Comicon will be held June 6-7 at the Spokane Convention Center — the largest Eastern Washington comic book event will feature 300 exhibitors, cosplay contests, live panels, and support Our Place Community Outreach and a local art scholarship fund. FOX 28 Spokane

- ➤ Visit Spokane announced record visitor spending of $1.55B for 2025—a 1.4% rise from 2024—as the county welcomed 10.2 million visitors. Spending across food, lodging, retail, and transportation drove about $242M in tax revenue, easing local taxes. FOX 28 Spokane

- ➤ Two Ferris High School seniors earned second place in Earth and Environmental research at the International Science and Engineering Fair earlier this month in Spokane for their project on wildfire smoke's impact on agricultural seeds, and they will continue their work at the University of Washington this fall. - ➤ Severe thunderstorms caused power outages for over 30,000 customers across the Inland Northwest last night, with Avista losing over 18,000 in Spokane and Whitman County and Inland Power reporting 2,500 outages — customers are advised to check provider maps for power restoration times. - ➤ Avista said the Spokane River flowed 5,810 cubic feet per second at Riverfront Park on Thursday, May 28 — roughly 2.6 million gallons a minute — and expects water levels to rise over the coming week while Lake Coeur d’Alene and Lake Spokane remain near summer levels. FOX 28 Spokane
