- ➤ Spokane Police increased patrols on 1300 W Courtland after two drive-by shootings occurred on May 26 and June 1 near Emerson Park and North Monroe — residents report that nights have been more chaotic — as police have not linked the incidents. KXLY
- ➤ Spokane police are searching for 14-year-old Matthew Stovba—missing since May 16 and described as 5'10" and 190 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes—and ask anyone with information to contact investigators. KXLY
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A candidate has been recommended as the new CEO of Spokane Transit Authority but the four-person committee will not share the name until a board meeting later this month—prompting concern about the transparency of the process. - ➤ Providence conducted a multi-agency drill to test the region's readiness for highly infectious diseases by simulating two patients suspected of having Marburg virus disease at Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake. American Medical Response safely transferred the patients to the Special Pathogens Unit at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane — the exercise involved local and state health agencies including the Grant County Health District and the Washington State Department of Health. - ➤ Providence conducted a multi-agency emergency drill yesterday to boost the region's readiness for handling infectious diseases—exercise participants simulated two suspected Marburg virus patients and transported them safely using American Medical Response to designated units in Spokane.
