GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Bob Ferguson and other state and local officials reinstated their commitment on Monday to finish the North Spokane Corridor as crews built a bridge above the Spokane River — a final $375 million allotment from a new 6-cent-per-gallon gas tax adds to the nearly $1.5 billion project, which is set to open by 2030. Officials stressed that ongoing challenges such as tariffs and rising costs could still affect final details.  The Spokesman-Review
  • More than $82 million in state funds will go to Spokane-area projects. The money will complete the North Spokane Corridor with $51.7 million, add $23 million for local housing and human services, and pay for a new crisis relief center, Maddie's Place, Fish Lake Trail improvements, a senior-housing project, police training center upgrades, and a noise study for U.S. 395 — projects that will support future improvements.  Spokane Journal of Business
