CRIME NEWS

  • Deputies arrested 63-year-old Harold D. Thompson Jr. on Wednesday morning in Spokane Valley when a business on Fancher Road reported power tools valued at about $1,200 were stolen — security video and evidence from a nearby site led to his capture.  KXLY
  • Two white males suspected of carjacking drove a gray 2005 Chevrolet Avalanche — with a Washington license plate labeled D54619D — east on I-90 toward Spokane when they were last seen on June 12 at 2 p.m.  FOX 28 Spokane
  • The Spokane Police Department is asking for community assistance to locate missing teens Kaelab (16) and Gage (15), who were last seen near Fiske and 33rd on June 12 in the early morning.  KHQ

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Bureau of Land Management announced today that fire restrictions are in place on public lands in twenty counties to reduce wildfire risk as temperatures rise. The new rules ban smoking, building fires, off-road vehicle use, and fireworks—with campfire exceptions only at designated campgrounds.  KHQ

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Spokane Valley Fire Department announced that 2024 was its busiest year ever, with over 24,000 emergency calls and more than 30,000 dispatches. The report highlights the department’s commitment to protecting community health — showing its efforts to keep the area safe as it grows.  FOX 28 Spokane
