- ➤ Gierra Cottingham reported that more than 10 police officers on bikes blocked the protesters' path as they marched peacefully through downtown Spokane. Protesters expressed excitement about joining the demonstration and continued their march without confrontation. KHQ
- ➤ Today, Spokane County aquatic centers and Spokane city pools open for public swimming with the Northside Family Aquatics Center in Colbert and the Southside Family Aquatics Center holding sessions from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., while A.M. Cannon, Comstock, Hillyard, Liberty and Shadle pools operate from 1 to 4 p.m.—with select evening sessions on certain days. KXLY

- ➤ Gary Hill, a respected husband, father, veteran and good Samaritan, was fatally shot on June 16th at 6:40 p.m. outside Liberty Stop N Go on Stateline when he intervened to stop a carjacking—his brave act saved a family from harm. FOX 28 Spokane
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Spokane City Council passed an ordinance on Monday banning virtual currency kiosks to protect residents from scams. Councilmember Paul Dillon and Council President Betsy Wilkerson led the vote, and the police will monitor the rule’s impact – making Spokane the first city in the state to take this step. KXLY
- ➤ Spokane City Council voted Monday not to create a new homeless camping ordinance that would have allowed people to camp on city streets for up to seven days—replacing a rule overturned by the state Supreme Court. Opponents said the measure would harm downtown businesses while proponents argued it was needed to better address the homelessness crisis. KXLY
