- ➤ As the school year sunsets, many Spokane-area schools and community centers will offer free on-site meals for anyone 18 or younger this summer, with varying schedules for breakfast and lunch and no meals served on July 4. Summer meals are funded by the USDA+ registration is not needed as meals must be eaten at the serving location. The Spokesman-Review
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ On June 14 at 5:30 p.m., a one-vehicle rollover crash at the 18500 block of N. Boston Road left a passenger critically injured and led to the arrest of the driver for DUI—witnesses estimated his speed at 50 to 70 mph in a 35 mph zone. KHQ
- ➤ Investigators from RAVEN and DEA served search warrants on June 5 at nine locations in Spokane, Olympia and parts of Oregon and California—arresting several suspects including a local male and seizing drugs and cash as the active investigation continues. Spokane County
- ➤ On Sunday morning, police said Ryan Tietsort carjacked several vehicles between Stateline Village and Spokane Valley, shot Gary Hill multiple times during an attempted carjacking, and was later killed by officers — investigators from the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office and SIIR are now probing the shootings and carjackings.
