BUSINESS NEWS

  • AMI Metals will move to a new 101,000-square-foot facility on a 12-acre site in Spokane Valley that doubles its current 56,000-square-foot space in Spokane—an expansion announced in coordination with the state Department of Commerce—during the Paris Air Show. The move is expected to boost local job opportunities and strengthen the regional aerospace supply chain.  The Spokesman-Review

  • Spokane police detained a man Thursday in a residential neighborhood after officers responded with armored vehicles to a reported court order violation — negotiators confirmed he surrendered peacefully.  KXLY

  • Spokane Symphony is hosting a free sunset concert today at 8:20 p.m. at Mirabeau Meadows in Mirabeau Point Park — the performance featuring a string trio and harp invites community members to bring blankets or lawn chairs to enjoy the music.  FOX 28 Spokane
  • Scott Griffith collects old stereo receivers and keeps 27 of them in his home in north Spokane. He shows off 21 on custom shelves and plans to travel to British Columbia to add a rare Pioneer SX 590— a powerful receiver from the 1970s.  The Spokesman-Review

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Spokane County Board of Commissioners approved a partnership with the City of Spokane Fire Department to launch a co responder program that pairs first responders with behavioral health experts from Frontier Behavioral Health to better handle mental health crises. The program, which will start later this year, aims to improve public safety—reducing unnecessary emergency room visits and incarceration.  Spokane Journal of Business
