ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A crash blocked the left lanes in both directions on Highway 290 just west of Argonne Road in Spokane Valley yesterday and caused significant delays near Sargent Road—drivers were advised to expect long backups and consider alternate routes. FOX 28 Spokane
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Two Spokane pioneers built the Auditorium Theater in 1890 after a big downtown fire to host live shows for up to 1,750 people — the building later changed hands during tough financial times and was taken down in early 1934 as movies grew popular. The Spokesman-Review
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Spokane City Council will discuss today an ordinance that allows the police to invest in an explosive detection K—9. The proposal allocates $42,654—covering registration, schooling, travel, equipment and interfund capital commissioning to boost local security. FOX 28 Spokane
- ➤ Starting July 1, Washington will raise hunting and fishing license fees by 38% after Gov. Ferguson signed a law on May 17 — a measure that provides discounts for seniors and disabled veterans. Residents can buy licenses at the current price until July 1 — and a new Columbia River endorsement will be required for fishing beginning January 1, 2026. FOX 28 Spokane

- ➤ The all-female Air Race Classic finished in Spokane on June 20 when team Skybound Scotts—pilots Lauren Scott and Rebecca Carroll—won after flying a 2,426-mile route from Fairhope to Felts Field.
