  • KXLY radio is hosting a fundraiser for fallen firefighters and will provide live updates and weather coverage all day.  KXLY

  • Dave and Buster’s will open a new venue in Spokane Valley on August 11. The 24,000-square-foot entertainment hub will hire over 160 workers and offer arcade games, a chef-crafted menu and a sports bar with a 40-foot high-definition TV screen—located at 13921 E. Mansfield near the Spokane Valley Mall.  Spokane Journal of Business

CRIME NEWS

  • Chad Horne confessed in court to setting spot fires that started at My Fresh Basket in Kendall Yards and reached WSU Spokane—where an EV charging station was destroyed; he fled but was later arrested in Liberty Lake and is set for arraignment on July 22.  FOX 28 Spokane

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gun dealers who make over $1,000 each month must send reports of ATF trace requests to the Attorney General’s Office under a new law that started on July 1—these reports must include details on each request and the guns involved and are due by March 15 each year.  FOX 28 Spokane
  • Spokane Valley City Council race has three candidates fighting to shape our city's future. Incumbent Laura Padden faces a 26-year-old Gonzaga student and a salvage yard manager who disagree on how to fund public safety and manage growth—each candidate offers a different plan to keep the community safe and strong.  The Spokesman-Review
