- ➤ On Wednesday, crews began cutting a damaged 36-inch ductile iron sewer line on Wall Street near Barnes Road after a rupture flooded a local resident’s basement and threatened $200,000 in rare collectibles + officials say repairs will continue over the next few days + work will include refilling holes and re-graveling the road. - ➤ Inland Power & Light Co. will move more power lines underground in a 10-year plan aimed at boosting safety—this work will use about $41 million a year to upgrade lines near Mount Spokane and on Moody Lane while working with property owners and state agencies. Spokane Journal of Business

- ➤ Last week wildfires near Davenport and Kettle Falls triggered evacuations and reduced air quality as the Inland Northwest experienced its driest June on record. A Spokane Valley deputy fire marshal warned that smoking cannabis—which can reach temperatures up to 1,200 degrees—can easily ignite dry grass and lead to larger structure fires during fire season.
