- ➤ Spokane County Fire District #4 responded to a brush fire at the 20000 block of North Little Spokane Drive and North Perry Road on July 29th when a visible smoke column was seen at 2 p.m. and fire officials reported the fire’s forward progress was halted and it was 100% wet lined by 2:15 p.m.—further updates are expected. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Spokane Valley Deputies arrested 42-year-old Dustin T. Willhite on felony domestic violence charges — they stopped him riding a teal Cannondale Habit 2 near E. Cane Circle and E. Laberry Drive on July 28 at 3:15 p.m. after its serial number matched a report from June, and he now faces charges for possession of stolen property and malicious mischief. Spokane County
- ➤ On July 28th at about 10:45 p.m., a Spokane Valley deputy attempted to stop 27-year-old Joshua A. Helliwell for a traffic violation on E. Broadway Avenue and he fled on foot after ditching his bike—he was arrested, found to be a wanted felon with stolen property including a $310 bicycle and over $190 in clothing, and now faces charges for theft, obstructing law enforcement, and a traffic infraction. - ➤ Spokane Valley Police arrested a man on July 28 after a domestic violence call led officers to find him riding a bicycle reported stolen in June—he is charged with felony harassment for threatening to kill a victim by burning down their home on July 24 and faces additional charges for possession of stolen property. - ➤ A Spokane Valley deputy chased a cyclist on July 28 at 10:45 p.m. after he did not stop for a traffic check and ran into a backyard, and the deputy arrested 27-year-old Joshua Helliwell—who had an active felony warrant and admitted to stealing a $310 bike and clothes worth over $190. KHQ
- ➤ Spokane County police seized 17 guns, including two ghost guns + 13 handguns, along with over $10,000 in cash and a large quantity of Xanax pills Tuesday around 11 a.m. during an illegal firearm trafficking investigation that involved serving search warrants at two locations in northwest Spokane and north of Deer Park.
