A free back-to-school carnival at Mission Park offered families school supplies, haircuts, games, and other resources (organized by SNAP) starting at 11:00 a.m. to help locals prepare for the new school season.

Cedar, the highland cow mascot of the Spokane County Interstate Fair, died suddenly this week at Dalkena Highlands farm north of Spokane, leaving her calf Clover to become the fair mascot in September.
