After the Old Trails fire prompted a Saturday evacuation, the Hansen family camped at the Spokane County Fairgrounds and learned Sunday that their home was lost while all family members and pets remain safe + other evacuees have found shelter with help from community groups.
Queen of Sheba Ethiopian Cuisine prepared free vegan and meat dishes on Sunday for those displaced by local fires + Feast World Kitchen partnered with First Presbyterian Church to offer boxed meals, while Nuestras Raices Community Center and the Red Cross shelter also provided meals to support fire recovery.
No-Li Brewhouse will donate all No-Li Beer Campus proceeds to Spokane families impacted by wildfires starting Sunday and aims to raise $50,000 for community support (the nonprofit managing funds is yet to be announced).
🚧 Accidents
Three fires that broke out Saturday burned an estimated 600 structures, including the Old Trails fire that scorched 3,510 acres and the Autumn Lane fire that spread across the Spokane River to threaten Lakeside Estates while crews continued to assess the damage.
