  • Community members in Spokane gathered Saturday at Manito and Riverfront Park to honor activist Charlie Kirk—assassinated three days ago in Utah with the FBI arresting alleged shooter Tyler Robinson—and a second vigil will be held today at Franklin Park at 1 p.m.  KHQ
  • Members of the Spokane Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints led a large-scale cleanup in Elk on September 13 to aid those affected by the 2023 Oregon Road Fire during the National Day of Service and Remembrance — President Timothy Cobb said the volunteers focused on refreshing and rebuilding damaged property.  FOX 28 Spokane
  • On September 13, members of the Spokane Stake led a clean-up in Elk to help those affected by the Oregon Road Fire as part of the National Day of Service and Remembrance. CULTURE NEWS

  • Spokane Historical Preservation Office, Spokane Parks and Recreation, and the Jonas Babcock Chapter of the Daughters of the Revolution will host a Golden Spike memorial plaque event on September 15 at 1 p.m. along Centennial Trail under the Monroe Street Bridge in Kendall Yards to mark 111 years since the railroad completed the Ayer-Cutoff—an event that also saw the opening of Union Station.  KHQ

  • At the Spokane Comedy Club, a man suffered a heart attack and audience members performed CPR until paramedics arrived—comedian Drew Lynch praised the swift action and later visited the man in the hospital, where he was reported to be doing OK.  KHQ

  • Spokane's Fights Under the Lights at the Gesa Pavilion will take place on Saturday, September 20 at 6 p.m. (doors open at 5 p.m.) and all ages are welcome to enjoy an electrifying night of MMA.  KXLY
