- ➤ Today, more than 3,500 Avista customers in Spokane Valley, Greenacres and Liberty Lake are without power—Avista has not yet said when electricity will be restored. KHQ
- ➤ Police officers will serve as Celebrity Waiters from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. today at four Texas Roadhouse locations in Spokane, Kennewick, Union Gap and Bellingham to raise funds for Special Olympics Washington. The fundraiser will support more than 12,000 athletes and mark the organization’s 50th anniversary — a milestone for the program offering sports training and competitions for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. - ➤ Broadway Court Estates — a family owned senior living home founded in 2001 by the Sarff family and now led by their grandchildren — serves active seniors in Spokane Valley with private apartments and many amenities. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Construction projects are reducing lanes and causing traffic delays in Spokane as part of the Maxwell Avenue Bike and Pedestrian Safety Upgrades project and the Francis and Assembly Water Project. Southbound on North Ash St. will operate with one lane from today until Sept. 24—other roads will have scheduled lane reductions on Sept. 22, Sept. 24, Sept. 30, and Oct. 2, so drivers should prepare for congestion and pedestrian detours. - ➤ Dr. Punati explained that constipation in children is shown by how soft their stool is—healthy waste should be soft and easy to pass. She said families should use a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and water and try gentle treatments first, then consult a doctor if symptoms do not improve within a week. FOX 28 Spokane
