  • Jake Abbott, owner of Ruby Creek Resort, was honored with the inaugural Outstanding Customer Service Award last week at a tourism conference in Spokane — his boutique RV resort along the Pend Oreille River, which opened in 2023, is known for making every guest feel welcome. Abbott said the award recognizes his resort’s core value of excellent service.  KXLY

  • Spokane honored hometown legend Bing Crosby on Saturday at Gonzaga's Bing Crosby House Museum to mark 100 years since he left the city for his entertainment career. His daughter Mary Crosby emphasized how the city shaped his legacy.  KHQ

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Mount Spokane Ski and Snowboard Park posted a photo of the first snowflakes of the season on October 11th — the National Weather Service issued winter weather advisories in parts of Washington and Idaho to mark the start of winter conditions.  FOX 28 Spokane

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Local community leaders from different parties back the Together Spokane initiative, asking voters to approve a school bond and parks levy this November.   • Spokane Chiefs goalie Carter Esler made 20 saves to help his team hold off the Seattle Thunderbirds 2-1 on Saturday. The game was the first of a six game Western Hockey League road trip — the Chiefs improved to a 3-3 record and will travel to Medicine Hat on Tuesday.  The Spokesman-Review
  • Dianne Bruhn, 85, is looking forward to her 50th Bloomsday after a long career inspired by her four sons—she recalled that during a 2025 race near Spokane Falls Community College, her boys joined her on the course.
