- ➤ The Spokane City Council and city employees are hosting a community food drive and fundraiser to support the Zilch and Bite2Go programs as part of an effort to fight food insecurity. The event, which runs from October 15 to December 15, accepts non-perishable foods and monetary donations—drop-offs are available at multiple City Hall floors and at the Chase Gallery outside the Council Chambers. - ➤ The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office will hold a free law enforcement career day for high school students on November 14 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at its new Regional Training Center + space is limited so students should sign up soon. The event will feature classes, demos and a panel with county prosecutors, judges and Sheriff John Nowels + topics such as forensics, drone work, SWAT, K9 teams and search and rescue. Spokane County
- ➤ Avista announced that traffic will be impacted Friday as crane assembly preparations for rock relocation work at Monroe Street Dam require closing Spokane Falls Boulevard between Post Street and Lincoln Street from 4:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.—drivers must take detours and follow instructions from traffic control personnel. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ A study found that HEPA air purifiers did not lower the overall virus count in classrooms even though they reduced the variety by 33%—with some rooms testing positive for up to 13 viruses.
