A Spokane auto dealership owner, Dan Arrotta, died Friday night in Montana when his small plane crashed about 9:15 p.m. near Lincoln Airport's landing strip — he was heading on a weekend hunting trip with his brothers.

The Spokesman-Review announced winners of its annual children’s pumpkin coloring contest that received 82 entries from age groups zero to four, five to eight and nine to twelve—winners from Spokane, Martha Lake, Newman Lake and Spokane Valley impressed judges with creative designs. Entries are on display at Mobius Discovery Center.

Washington’s Employment Security Department will host a free 90-minute webinar on October 30 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.—designed to help state workers facing furloughs and layoffs learn to apply for unemployment, manage healthcare, and build job skills.
