  • At an Eastern Washington University football game, firefighters Ryan Finneran, Jeff Hanson, Brian Turpen and Lieutenant Gabe Mills were honored by BELFOR Property Restoration and 1-800-BOARDUP for rescuing a man from a house fire earlier this year—each said they were just doing their jobs.  FOX 28 Spokane
  • Residents in Spokane Valley recalled the damage of the November 17, 2015 windstorm that brought down trees and killed two people — some residents still remember a house on Manito Boulevard that had to be rebuilt from scratch. A retrospective aired on NonStop Local yesterday and showed how the community united to help each other recover.  KHQ

  • Stars on Ice will return to Spokane on May 21 at Numerica Veterans Arena at 7:00 p.m. in 2026—featuring top skaters like world champion Ilia Malinin, Alysa Liu, and Olympic gold medalists Madison Chock and Evan Bates, with tickets available from November 21.  KHQ

  • A recent study from the Employee Benefit Research Institute showed that many retirees wished they had saved more earlier — a prompt for current workers to start planning sooner. JD Allen from Baird Private Wealth Management said that setting clear goals and joining employer retirement plans helps build a secure future — advice for those who have delayed saving.  KHQ

HEALTH NEWS

  • A Washington state resident, an older adult with underlying health problems, was hospitalized on November 17th after developing a high fever and breathing trouble and later tested positive for the H5N5 bird flu strain—officials said the virus was first found in wild birds and the overall public risk remains low. More than 100 health care workers and other contacts have been monitored as the CDC and state experts work with clinicians on treatment recommendations.  FOX 28 Spokane

  • Gonzaga University's men’s basketball team jumped six spots in the AP Top 25 poll to reach 13, tying with Louisville + Illinois for the largest move this week. The undefeated Bulldogs began their season with strong wins that helped their rise in the rankings.  FOX 28 Spokane
