- ➤ University High student Bella Jackson-Fleming died unexpectedly on Nov. 11th at her Spokane Valley home from respiratory failure after anaphylactic shock, reportedly triggered by medication, and she was remembered as the granddaughter of local softball pioneer Sally Jackson — a community icon. Her family will hold a celebration of life at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29th at Ponderosa Elementary, and donations are requested in lieu of flowers to support the Spokane Valley Girls Softball Association — a tribute to her generous heart. - ➤ A weather balloon launched from WindBorne Systems' new Spokane site smashed a United Airlines plane’s windshield over Moab on Oct. 15 at 10:30 a.m.—the impact injured a pilot and led the company to add safety measures while investigators continue their review. The Spokesman-Review

- ➤ On Thursday, three Spokane-area businesses were honored by the Association of Washington Business for their excellence in areas including environmental practices and manufacturing. - ➤ The Spokane Public Schools Board of Directors was named 2025 Large District Board of the Year by the Washington State School Director’s Association—praising their work closing opportunity gaps and building tribal partnerships—and their efforts raised Native student graduation rates and attendance.
