  • Spokane-based Blaze Barrier Inc. is finalizing regulatory approvals to start manufacturing its portable wildfire suppression modules at its new West Plains facility and has pre-sold over 200 units + plans to hire production workers soon. CULTURE NEWS

  • Local fusion band Organism will return from hiatus to perform reimagined takes on 1980s classics Friday at Hamilton Studio Listening Room. The concert (featuring a secret song tradition) will offer a creative twist on familiar tunes and celebrate local musical roots.  The Spokesman-Review

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Eastern Washington University will launch a three-year dental therapy master’s program in the SIERR Building (850 E. Spokane Falls Blvd) to address rural oral health needs, funded by a $10.5M state commitment; if accredited, enrollments will begin in fall 2028.  Spokane Journal of Business
  • Gonzaga and McKinstry Co. announced a new partnership to build a stronger engineering workforce by offering students scholarships, paid internships, and hands-on learning in clean energy and infrastructure.   • On Wednesday morning, a powerful windstorm left tens of thousands without power and damaged homes across Spokane County. Avista said some customers could face extended outages as crews worked to repair damage (with local businesses and neighbors offering assistance).  KXLY

SPORTS NEWS

  • WSU snapped a five game skid with a 78-63 win over Eastern Washington on Wednesday night in Spokane. Transfer wing Emmanuel Ugbo scored 20 points while freshman Ace Glass added 14 (improving the team's defense) as the Cougars build momentum ahead of their next home matchup against Mercer on Saturday.  The Spokesman-Review
