  • An 11-year-old Spokane boy with Congenital Muscular Dystrophy saw his hero astronaut Anne McClain launch on SpaceX Crew-10 from the Kennedy Space Center on March 14—his trip was arranged by the Wishing Star Foundation for him and his family.  KXLY

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Sephora will open its beauty store in two Spokane-area Kohl’s this April; the first will be at Northtown Mall (4740 North Division St) and the second in the Valley (16301 East Broadway Ave).  KXLY

CRIME NEWS

  • Spokane police said they arrested 19-year-old Cougar Devereaux Jr.—wanted on a murder warrant from a July 7 shooting in the 1300 block of West Courtland Avenue that fatally wounded Maria Kapustin—in Greeley, Colorado on March 20 at 4:11 p.m., and he will be extradited after his hearing is complete.  FOX 28 Spokane

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Spokane County records list new marriage licenses for couples from various local areas and include civil cases involving restitution of premises and claims of owed money. The records also detail criminal sentencing—showing jail terms and probation for offenses such as vehicular assault, reckless driving, and third-degree crimes.  The Spokesman-Review
  • The Spokane County Sheriff's Office had its best hiring year in nearly 20 years after a revamped process cut applicant processing from six months to under 90 days. Around 40 new deputies are now in training and will soon be visible in the community—helping ease overtime and improve on-scene response.  KXLY
