Spokane County Fire District 9 is hosting a CPR workshop and food drive today at the Union Stadium multipurpose room on North Market Street from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Community members of all ages will learn hands-only CPR techniques & drop off non-perishable food donations to support Mead Food Bank.

On Monday evening, Spokane County Fire District 9 and Spokane firefighters responded at 7 p.m. to rescue a man stranded on a cliff ledge in the Little Spokane River Natural Area near the Painted Rocks Trailhead — he was not injured.

SCRAPS requested four charges against WildWoof Kennel in Airway Heights on April 14 after officers seized 171 animals on February 7 following a failed inspection that found poor conditions, and the charges include two for second-degree animal cruelty and two for unsafe confinement and transport.

Spokane City Council passed a resolution on April 14 to oppose potential federal and state Medicaid cuts because they believed the cuts could harm local health services.
