  • Local cat Selkirk charmed parade fans as he rode on a Spokane fire engine during the Pride Parade last weekend—his TikTok video quickly gained nearly 1.7 million views and spread joy among the crowd.  FOX 28 Spokane

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Spokane Valley Fire Department responded to a plane crash near Skymeadow Lane and 44th Avenue when an antique open cockpit biplane crashed while taking off from Skymeadow Airpark—both passengers exited safely, and one is being treated for minor injuries as FAA and Spokane County Fire District 8 investigate.  FOX 28 Spokane

CRIME NEWS

  • On June 15th, Spokane Valley and Spokane County Deputies responded to an armed robbery on E. Sprague Avenue; a high-speed chase followed that spanned Spokane and Kootenai Counties, where the suspect carjacked vehicles, fired at officers, and reportedly killed one victim before being fatally shot near Trent & Pines.  Spokane County

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Adams Elementary on Spokane South Hill is planning a new school and after-school Boys and Girls Club to offer kids a safe place from 3 to 6 daily—if voters pass the Together Spokane bond in November, students and staff will move to Camp Adams during Winter Break and construction will start early next year with completion by summer 2027.  KHQ
